For both Governments and the oil & gas industry, the decarbonisation of oil and gas production is an absolute necessity to reach our climate goals for the environment. However, it is imperative that we develop a way to maintain energy security in parallel without leaving viable energy assets in the ground. Our innovative concept of Zero Carbon to Surface prevents carbon emissions at point-source and retains produced carbon downhole.
Note: GHG = Greenhouse Gases
It is environmentally more beneficial, and more economic, to prevent the carbon from an initial entry into the atmosphere, than to later remove that same post-burn carbon from the atmosphere (or to recycle it in/out as synfuels). This will also eliminate the damage that these potent GHG (methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2)) do while they transition through our atmosphere before their, only partial, energy intensive and expensive capture.
At-source conversion of oil and gas to hydrogen is not only positive for energy security and the economy but also has direct knock-on benefits for an improved social-economy and environment. The resulting cleaner air will reduce pollution-based cardiovascular illnesses, which have a significant drain on the national economy through their demands on the national health services. The additional downstream cost for the capture, processing, transportation and storage of GHG will also be significantly reduced.
Natural Gas – Conversion to Hydrogen
Our groundbreaking Zero Carbon to Surface patented process and patent pending technology, prevents carbon emissions by retaining produced carbon downhole, at point-source. This transforms oil and gas energy reserves into a clean energy resource, namely HYDROGEN, to supply the high volumes necessary for the hydrogen economy.

The Metharc wellbore process enables all nations to maintain the energy security from the exploitation of their known oil and gas resources, through their wellbore reformation to hydrogen. This at-source conversion and carbon capture allows the oil and gas reserves to be exploited as hydrogen, instead of fossil fuels, in a climate friendly and environmentally positive way. The benefits to both the environment and economy in the value chain are clear.
Hydrogen generation close to the marketplace
- delivers hydrogen at volume, converting natural gas production at-source
- non-centralised energy production, energy conversion localised, reducing transportation losses
Climate Sustainability
- promotes a green economy, with zero carbon produced to surface
- an immediate reduction in carbon footprint through CCS
- reduces methane (CH4, a potent GHG) transportation and distribution losses
