Vision and Mission

Metharc’s vision is to change how global energy resources are consumed for a more sustainable, climate beneficial society, while enhancing energy security and significantly reducing global greenhouse gas emissions.

Our mission is to be a leading provider of sustainable energy processes, through the development of disruptive and innovative energy technology solutions that enable a more environmentally responsible and cost-effective use of our existing energy resources.

Our technology will enable the continued exploitation (not production) of global methane assets in a climate-beneficial way, future-proofing them against emerging environmental regulations that restrict fossil fuel production, while ensuring a more effective route to carbon footprint reduction to make Carbon Capture & Storage sustainable.

Our Goals - The Metharc 9 Point Plan

1

Zero Carbon to Surface

Decarbonise oil & gas production in the wellbore, to allow the continued exploitation of existing, strategic national energy reserves.

This will also ease the energy transition for developing economies, by enabling unlimited continued climate-beneficial exploitation of their known oil & gas resources (as hydrogen).

2

Adapt & Repurpose

Optimise the use of existing, mature technologies from industry to speed up our tool technology development and reduce its technical risk.

The high Technical Readiness Levels (TRL) inherent in the mature technologies incorporated in our solutions accelerate out tool development.

3

Reducing Cost

Demonstrate a clear commercial advantage for wellbore hydrogen production, through reduced baseline energy costs using nature’s geological temperature and pressure.

Zero Carbon to Surface eliminates the additional energy and finance required to remove that same carbon ‘post-burn’ from the atmosphere.

4

Reducing Environmental Impact

Optimise and increase the economic lifespan of the existing offshore and onshore energy infrastructure.

This will reduce the need for the more land and sea area for construction; minimising the environmental footprint, material resources used, construction time and cost, while also reducing the time for the green energy transition.

5

Change the Oil & Gas Industry

Enable the conversion of the Oil & Gas Industry into a Hydrogen and carbon capture (CCS) Industry. This allows retaining and transferring energy skills and experience to similar industries (geothermal) rapidly lowering their costs.

This also preserves employment and maintains tax revenues, while synergistically transitioning how (not if) we use this energy for a better climate and environment.

6

Financially Self-Sustaining Geothermal Energy

Improve the commerciality of Geothermal Energy by making it financially self-sustainable through multiple revenue streams (Biogas-District Heating-Enhanced Power-Hydrogen-Water-CCS), when integrating Agriculture and Biowaste with Energy production and Industry, highlighting their synergy in a circular green economy.

7

Hydrogen Production at High Volume and Low Unit Cost

To accelerate growth of the hydrogen economy by providing low cost, clean, carbon free, Hydrogen at large scale, in the volumes required by industry.

8

Technology Development

To further develop different applications for our innovative process and technology for generating Hydrogen with CCS in the wellbore, and to use it as both a power and fresh water source in arid areas to reduce the energy consumption and demand for high-energy water desalination processes.

9

Optimising Chemistry

Synergistically combine the injection of CO2 with the wellbore reformation (gasification) of oil & gas (or Biogas) to generation Hydrogen, to improve the overall economic sustainability of carbon capture (CCS) and future-proof the exploitation of Oil & Gas and Biogas in a climate-beneficial way.
